| When C&A
made the decision to withdraw from retailing in the UK, they did not
cease operations all together - they still hold a major property portfolio
of over a hundred properties. C&A's property company, Redevco, now deals with the day to day
management of these properties from its Central London office. As
the office does not have sufficient space to hold all of the documents
relating to all of the properties, these are held elsewhere in storage.
The problem
When a lease was up for review or a building plan was needed to check
a layout, a taxi was sent to the storage facility to collect the numbered
box relating to the property. As you can imagine, this took time to
organise and for the box to arrive back at the office. Regularly the
wrong box was delivered or the box didn't contain the required document.
Also, as this information was held in London, it was not readily available
to any of C&A European offices.
The solution
The ICON Property Library is the solution. This stores all of the
information relating to all of the properties on the Internet so it
can be instantly accessed by Redevco representatives wherever they
are.
The properties that Redevco manage have a number of leases on them
with a number of different companies. For example, a number of old
C&A stores are now let to other retailers and many of the buildings
have mobile phone masts on the roof.
The Property Library has been designed so that Redevco can grant access
to representatives from other companies who then are only able to
view information pertaining to them. So if a user from Orange was
granted access, they would only be able to view certain details of
the properties that have Orange mobile phone masts on the roof.
The Redevco system holds the following types of information:
