B8 has been in business since 1914 and is one of Denmark's leading
manufacturers of office furniture. Although the company had resellers
in the UK, B8 wanted to expand their business to a broader market.
With its worldwide user base, its 'deep links' within AutoCAD and
Architectural Desktop, CADlib was a great way of doing this.
Since its launch CADlib has hosted over 1,800 of B8's products.
To get the drawings online all B8 had to do was to supply the CAD
files together with a list of descriptions and categories for the
drawings. ICON used the 3D AutoCAD files and our automated system
to create thumbnail images for each of the products together with
DWF preview files.
As B8's furniture has all been drawn in 3D, it was made available
in both AutoCAD and 3DS MAX / VIZ formats. To get the furniture
into 3DS MAX / VIZ another set of automated routines was used to
convert each AutoCAD file and create rendered previews of each item.
Once all the drawings and CAD models had been processed, they were
published on CADlib ready for users to locate and download. At this
point a number of things happened:
