Market Harborough firm nominated for top national award
Market Harborough information management specialist,
ICON has been nominated for a top national award – and not just by one
major customer but by three.
The company’s ICON System, developed for construction and facilities
management, was nominated by three prominent retailers - John Lewis,
Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
Now in their fourth year, the Construction Computing Awards showcase and
reward the technology, tools and solutions for the effective design,
construction, maintenance and modification of commercial buildings,
residential and social housing and civil engineering projects of all
sizes.
ICON has been nominated in the ‘Document and Content Management Software
of the Year’ category.
Voting is now underway and the winning companies in each category will
be announced at the awards ceremony on November 19 at the Tower Hotel
London. A full list of the winners will also be published in the awards
issue of Construction Computing Magazine.
The ICON system has a range of utilities to help with the management and
collation of data for large building projects. It’s designed to ensure
that all necessary steps are taken and recorded in the project
management process, including surveys, health and safety, and CAD
libraries.
The ICON solution allows the management of construction information
during the three key stages of a building’s lifecycle:
• The design and specification of buildings
• The project roll-out of new builds and refurbishments
• The ongoing management of built properties (comprising planning,
construction, maintenance and disposal)
Developed in conjunction with design standards and project managers, it
provides access to accurate, real-time information for all members of
the project delivery team, resulting in improved confidence,
communication, safety, efficiency, product quality and budgetary
control.
ICON joint Managing Director Emma McCabe commented: “To be nominated by
one major retailer would have been hugely gratifying but to be nominated
by three big names is exceptional. I’m pleased for everyone at ICON.
“We strive to provide a standard system that’s flexible and reliable,
but one that works with clients to resolve major issues. We offer a
unique service to some very complex organisations and systems.
“Obviously we’d like to win – when your customers and peers acknowledge
your success it’s a great honour.”
ICON employs 18 people at its offices at The Point in Market Harborough. |
