Coast to coast trio inspired to cycle for charity
The managing director of a Market Harborough-based
company is taking to the roads again on his bicycle - this time with two
colleagues in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
Chris Lovelock will be accompanied by Louise Clark and Steven Hagan on a
140 mile cycle ride over three days. They will join staff from The John
Lewis Partnership on the fund raising event, cycling the Coast to Coast
challenge from Whitehaven to Tyneside from July 8th to 11th.
The intrepid trio all work at information management software specialist
ICON. Early in May Chris successfully raised funds for the Retail Trust,
a charity set up to support people in the retail sector, by cycling
across Leicestershire to Norfolk.
A month on since his last feat Chris has been inspired to get back on
his bike – this time persuading his two colleagues to join him. The ICON
team have decided to step up the challenge by changing location and
increasing the distance covered.
“Although it is a 40 mile increase from the last ride, I feel the spirit
amongst my colleagues and the charity we’re supporting is enough
incentive to push the ICON team through the pain barrier,” said Chris.
The trio’s schedule is -
Day one: Whitehaven to Penrith, 53 miles
Day two: Penrith to Allenheads Lodge, 35 miles
Day three: Allenheads Lodge to Tynemouth, 52 miles
The trio can be supported at www.justgiving.com/icon2c2 - the site
records each donation, maps the route and provides further details on
the Alzheimer cause.
